Cardboard is a material that is widely used to make boxes, bags, packaging and other products, but it also generates a lot of waste when it is manufactured, used or thrown away.
This waste is mainly made of cellulose fibers.
To prevent them from damaging the environment, they must be recycled correctly.
ADVANTAGES OF CARDBOARD RECYCLING
Recycling cardboard has many advantages for the environment, the economy and society, for example:
Saving natural resources: for every ton of recycled cardboard, 140 liters of oil are saved, 27,000 liters of water are saved and 17 adult trees are saved.
Reduced pollution: less greenhouse gases are emitted, such as methane, which is formed when cardboard rots in landfills. Less energy and water are also used to make the cardboard.
Job creation: workers are needed in recycling plants and factories that use recycled cardboard as a raw material.
Supporting the circular economy: resources are put to better use by making more use of cardboard and preventing it from going to waste.
It is therefore important that we all help to recycle cardboard, separating it properly and putting it where it belongs. This way we will take care of the planet and create a greener future.
